I suppose one thing that comes to my mind is that kind of approach hopes or assumes that there is such a thing as a fundamental level. And then I don't know if we'd be in trouble, then that might kind of scupper up our aspirations for objectivity. It might mean a lot of work for particle physicists for a long time though, if we just keep building bigger and bigger atom smashers. My fantasy is that aliens come and they've been thinking about physics the way we have. They're just like a million years advanced and they can guide us through what would have taken us a million years to figure out in just a hundred years but that relies on us having sort
