The Year Our First Grader Played a Duet With His Music Teacher at the School Christmas Concert

The year our first grader played a piano duet with his music teacher at the school Christmas concert, my mother's eyes sparkled with pride. She returned her gaze to fill, no doubt imagining his future as featured pianist with the Baltimore Symphony. From its only chopsticks, she sniffed and threw back her head. I believe the announcer called it Christmas chopsticks.
