The Strange Behaviors of Insects Around Lights

Insects don't use polarized light to find water, but non-polarized lights are a problem for a much broader range of insects. The leading idea has been that insects are used in the moon's light navigate at night and they're no mistake in artificial lights for the moon. But less your navigation idea doesn't really explain much because their own insects are only fly during daytime like dragonflies that still gather around nights. So you can find lots of explanations from various sources, but none of them actually really explain what's going on.
