Inclination for Hallmere is more interesting. Impulse is certainly the most common translation. Nowadays, one or two people like Robin Hard's translation of Epitetus, I think he uses motivation rather than impulse. And I did use it for markers. But I had to write a footnote because the difficulty with the translation impulse is that it resonates with the English term impulsiveness which is exactly wrong.
