What Is the Value of a Title?

I don't want people to hear a say knocking titles as like, oh, titles are just if you care about that sort of thing. I think there's a lot of value in a title. Assistant professor carries a lot more weight than nurse practitioner. Even if it's the same job. So titles matter. It just makes my ego feel better.
