Elizabeth Gaskell was born in London in 1810, the daughter of a Unitarian minister. Her mother died when Elizabeth was only 13 months old and she was sent to live with her aunt Hannah in Cheshire. She had no prospects really, no expectations, no wealth or secure home. What she did have was her personality described by many as being calm and joyous,. One who made others around her happy. And what does that story mean for us? And what did it mean for Soren Kierkegaard? That's all coming up later because I got sidetracked on this first story about a story and the story itself.
