When my boss says, i want to talk to you, then i got panicky. How did i breathe? How did i hold my hands? What did i picture my head? And if i want to feel something, what other behavior could i do? Could i drop my shoulders? One way of rehearsing in advance to avoid being high jacked is to practise this body base. The other way is to notice our thoughts when we have an unpleasant emotional response. Yoand what was the thought? Ad what did we say to ourselves right before i got that emotional reaction?
