Learning Machine Learning From Real World Data
There's a lot of big differences in your experience between the kinds of real world data that you get from psychology studies, for example, relative to the kinds of data sets that you see in statistics or machine learning textbooks. So obviously when you're learning machine learning, you are going to start with the algorithms because there's a lot to cover and you really need to sort of have very gentle data sets. And these data sets have been curated within an inch of their lives. When you come to working with real data, oh man, it's just a mess. You really need to be aware of how to get data to tell you the story that it wants to tell you.
