The Choice Between Heliocentric and Geocentric Astronomy

accuracy by itself is seldom or never a sufficient criterion for theory choice. Other criteria must function as well, but they do not eliminate problems. To illustrate i select just two, consistency and simplicity in the choice between the heliocentric and geocentric systems. When scientists must choose between competing theories, two men fully committed to the same list of criteria may nevertheless reach different conclusions.
