The Role of Complexity in Conscience

The more complexity we have, the closer we get to something people would consider consciousness. I think in principle, we could imagine replacing all the neurons in the human brain with silicon chips. If they function the right way, my view, if it's conscious at the start, it'll be conscious at the end. The alternative here is to say that maybe you need something like biology to be conscious. So there's no consensus on these things but one big debate now is whether or not AI systems can be conscious.
