Can an Open Marriage Prevent the Potential Fall Out of Infidelity?

An open marriage or nomminogmy can either prevent the potential fall out of infidelity, or can it be a solution to recover from infidelity? There isn't any statistics on this yet. They haven't yet studied couples who have a history of infidelity and then opened their marriage in order to track how satisfied they were after that. It's just that in monogamous relationship, so often we don't think we need to do any work, because we're sold this myth that if we find the right person, all our problems are solved for us. That at least in non monogamy, we know we're going off that script.
