"I had that kind of cushioning of like there was someone who was willing to represent me, but then I actually had to write the book. You can sell a nonfiction book on a proposal, but with fiction for a first time author, you have to have the whole thing written," she says. "It made it to your point earlier about reading scripts in that internship...you're like, there are actually people doing this."
