Is There a Probability of Extraterrestrial Life?

From a Catholic point of view, if we ever do encounter extraterrestrial intelligence life or rational life to be more precise, I think the one thing we can be certain of is that they have been created directly by God. However, we would not say that higher intelligence evolved somewhere else the same way it evolved here because we don't actually believe that the rational soul is a product of evolution. When you talk about non-intelligent bacterial plant animal life, you're talking about certain probabilities of what will nature do. But with a rational soul, there is no probability.
