Role Models Could Make a Difference
In high school, I had a really great teacher for the in my final year of high school. To just see a smart woman working was quite inspirational to me. For the first seven years of my career from PhD onwards, I didn't have a single direct female colleague. After a while, that really became a drag. So then at that point, I cultivated a sort of online community at first. At first, I only knew these women online and now I know a lot of them in real life. And it's been a real pleasure to follow their careers and, you know, peer mentor each other.
