The Case of Hetty Green in the State of Texas v. State of Florida
After Hetty's son Edward H.R. Green died, the states of Texas, Florida, New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts fought among themselves over which state Ned was domiciled in at the time of his death. Had each of the four states been able to claim a state taxes, the entire 44 million plus would not have been sufficient to cover the tax bill.
