The Cross Isn't Any Old Thing

The centre is defined by whatever the cross represents. It's certainly that the cross probably represents the body to some degree. But then the cross also represents the place of suffering, obviously. And more importantly, it represents the place of voluntary suffering transcended. That's what it represents. So in old jacob's aim, for example, in undermining esau, almost gets him killed. You can understand why. Even though we're separated from the people in these stories by, what, four thousand years, three thousand years, something like that,. you know immediately why every one feels the way they do. I'm speaking psychologically, not theologically....
