With a Touchtone, your dialing number as fast as you're thinking it. The explosion of voicemail machines also led to a bizarre trend using kitschy pre-recorded songs for voice messages. In the early 80s, a company called Formidable Inks sold a tape of Teletunes with 13 different messages that people could put on their answering machines.
