The Origins of the Proctor Valley Monster
The Proctor Valley area of Chula Vista, California has long been the site of legends about a mysterious monster. A retired teacher and counselor says her son's story is based on an incident that happened there in 1947. The boys were riding their horses when they saw a cow giving birth to a stillborn calf so they decided to make it look like something had chewed on it. They used knives to cut some cuts into the animal then hung it on a barbed wire fence before stamping tracks in the mud nearby.
