In tribal societies, skin on skin contact for infants an young children is as high as 90 % of the time. In american society, it was as low as 17% in the seventies. The more highly trained the soldier, the more psychologically resilient they are,. even though they might be taking higher casualties. It's related to the level of control that you feel that you have.
