The Tempest of the Azteques
The Azteques referred to themselves as méchicas, and their empire included other tribes. The Nucheditlan was their capital with over 200,000 residents. Back then, the city was an island in the middle of a lake. As different rulers came to power in the region, they built temples on this spot. It had two shrines or adoratorios on top. They honored two important deities, the god of rain, phlaloc, and the god of war and the sun.
