The Unabomber
Yang and Fylo knew each other from their time at Stanford but they really bonded when they signed up for a brief teaching stint in Japan. Yang was the outgoing Gregarius one of the two born in Taiwan. He claims that on his first day of school in America the sum total of his English vocabulary was the word shoe. Fylo was the quieter more circumspective the pair so circumspect in fact that friends nicknamed him the Unabomber. Their dissertation advisor was on sabbatical so they were free to order pizza goof around and occasionally do some research.
