Cinderella and the Co-Wife
The Basile version, you're referring to the Neapolitan 1633 to 1636. She has a governess who she gets on with very well and they conspire that they will get rid of the rival wife. But it then turns out that a few days past after the murder, she drops the lid of a chest on the head of the wicked stepmother. So Cinderella goes back to the hearth, but it all ends happily.
