When you have a majority of the individuals in a space being white, that space will take off. The content warning conversation is an argument over whether or not Mastodon should continue to maintain its inheritance of whiteness. And so far as the majority of the users on Mastodon are white, then they take up the kinds of ways that whiteness organizes space. It might do so by virtue of creating a, say a black instance, but in that it brings with it its own particular kinds of harms one, it risks defecorating the black space.
