Timor Lestay holds separate elections for the presidency and parliament. The country has a semi-presidential system where power is shared between two leaders. President Joseph Ramos-Horda won last year's presidential election quite easily. His party has now gained 10 seats in the parliamentary election, falling just short of a majority.
