Stonehenge: Is It a Temple or a Precinct?

Imea, the way that people often thinkg about stonehenge is some kind of temple. But it doesn't look like a temple to me at all, the debris that was left around there. It's more like a kind of building site than a sacred precinct in those terms. For for the naeolithic people, darrington walls would have been the place that they would have seen themselves as going to. And i do wonder if what it's actually doing is memorialising particularly significant events that happened century after century, rather than year after year.
