Adapting to the New Experience
Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development suggests that when a child observes their environment, they experience familiar and unfamiliar things. According to Piaget, equilibrium is something which represents when the internal concept or the schema matches a new experience. When an experience though contradicts the internal thought process or theschema, then this leads to disequilibrium. To incorporate or adapt to the new experience, sometimes the Schema has to be modified. This process is what Piaget called accommodation.
