Is There a Population-Based Screening for Heart Failure?

The International Sodium HF Trial compared a modest sodium restriction of less than 1,500 milligrams per day against standard care. This was a pragmatic trial and it reported no significant differences in the primary outcome of cardiac related hospitalizations or emergency department visits or death. No one tells these patients to eat ham soup and potato chips every day. The question is how strong our sodium restriction should be.
