The California Canals Are a Big Problem

The canals are part of an absolutely massive state water project serving fresh water to around 35 million people and six million acres of farm land. But they do have a pretty big issue, evaporation. A proposal to cover the canal with solar bannels would not only reduce the evaporation, but also generate enough electricity to make up half of california's renewable energy goals for the next 20 years.
