The Impact of a CBDC on the Banking Sector
The most likely scenario is that a CBDC, at least in the U.S., would pay interest, right? Because you have this predisposition we've just been talking about to be quite skeptical of a CBDC,. The Fed and Treasurer are presumably going to want people to use CBDC, right? That's the point of creating. If they're going to have to incentivize people to prefer a CBDC over their demand deposits, which of course, for the most part, are paying interest. And then another way to think about separate from this disintermediation question, I think policymakers were quite intrigued by CBDC and the possibility of being able to adjust interest rates on CB
