What Is a Taxonomy?
A taxonomy is a set of terms words or phrases that describe concepts. They are organized in some kind of structure too but it could be grouped by different aspects. There's nothing actually formal as far as standards for taxonomies. But I'm seeing increasingly more taxonomies follow the SCOS model so they can be shared and exchanged.
