The Limits of Consciousness in AI

There are already AI chatbots and sort of AI robots that almost resemble a philosophical zombie. If you ask them if they're conscious, they say, I am not allowed to speak about this. There's no first person experience. It's just a sort of object. We don't want to go too far in the other direction but when it comes to what current AI systems do, there are these chatbots.
