The Importance of Nationalism in Kashmir
When Paramahansi ended, there was even a dispute about whether the princely states could go for independence. India feared a Balkanization that too many people will claim independence and said they have to join one or the other. But on the other hand, Jina was saying, no, no, they can go independent if they want because he wants to mess with India,. And it's advantages for him from a strategic point of view for, to encourage independence as in fact he did in the case of Hyderabad and an even Janagar.
