The Importance of Consent in Marriage

Marriage as we know it today originated with the Anglo Saxons, probably between 1250 and 1300. The goal is that you would eventually grow to if not love each other, just like really enjoy each other's company. So how do we get that connection? And first, before we get to love, we get to consent.
