The Whistling, Part 4
Stuff To Blow Your Mind
00:00
What Does It Feel Like to Whistle?
Ostwald argues that the act of whistling involves man lation of the muscles in the face and the mouth. This may produce hadonic states, feelings of comfort and pleasure because of its similarity to the facial and mouth movements of what he calls oral gratification. Buta specifically ties it into the a facial and moutha muscle movements of a feeding infant. And also, i'd be sceptical that there's a general principle that doing something with the skeletal muscle in your body that is similar to what that muscle does in some other related activity gives you pleasure. I don't know.
