What Is the Madisonian Idea of Diversity?
The Republican party, as it may be termed, is conscious that the mass of people in every part of the union must at bottom be with them. It will be equally their true policy to weaken their opponents by reviving exploded parties and taking advantage of all prejudices local, political, and occupational which may prevent or disturb a general coalition of sentiments. He says diversity is our strength in this way, not just because it's diversity of any kind, right? Not diversity of the purely or merely demographic nature, but diversity of the true kind - different forms and ways of life.
