Tippusultan and the East India Company

Tippusultan spent his life carrying out someone else's unfinished business. He inherited a kingdom that had successfully defeated the british and was holding british officers in captivity. By the time tippu's father, hyde ali had died and tippu himself assumed power, the brits were angry. Even to this day, there are so many competing narratives about tippoo sultan. But i happen to have a slightly unfashionable view in india to day, that he was a hero. And that's largely because he was a resolute anti colonialist.
