The Importance of Recognizing Yourself

Tim Keller asks, how often do we cook up scenarios in order to derive some benefit to our identities? How often do we inconvenience others in order to structure a better narrative about ourselves? We care more about narratives than we do the facts. And anybody who tells you that you have to react or that you're doing something wrong by not automatically reacting before you have all the facts is not helping you.
