In september of 19 99, swissair delta and bowing agreed to share her liability for the accident. Federal court ruled against punitive damages in february two thousand two; resulting compensation totaled over 13 million dollars. Two memorials to those who died in the crash were established by the government of nova scotia. One is to the east of the crash site, at the whale's back, which is a promontory one kilometer north of peggy's cove. The second is a more private, but much larger commemoration located near bayswater beach provincial park on the aspotogan peninsula in bayswater.
