Are We Not Distinguishing Risk as a Key Barrier to Innovation?
People are incredibly risk-averse. Your career doesn't flourish when you've spent £5 million and it's been a complete disaster. Most organizations are very intolerant of failure, whereas actually we need to get much more tolerant because one of the ways you're learning and evolving and innovating is you'll fail fast. We need impellers, not pro-pellers to move the ideas into the market and commercialize them. And so organizations need to find the bees or develop the polymatic capability in our people.
