The Dangers of Emmanuel Macron Being Played by the Chinese
There does seem to be a danger that he's being played by the Chinese. We have seen this in the past that Emmanuel Macron tends to talk as a commentator rather than as a man of action. He saw an opening in this China visit to project France and to project an independent voice. But he was not looking at the strategic interest of such a visit. It's not well coordinated with European allies. It does not advance a general European interest. Well, we'll see how supportive the rest of Europe is in the coming months.
