"We now commission you as elders at Church of the City, New York and recognize your office," he says. "You will stand before God and give and account to him for the souls of the people in our community." He asks: Are you willing to defend and teach the faith handed down to us by Jesus and the apostles? And do you make this commitment willingly and joyfully to our church community?"
