Rohit: The old pension scheme was a non-contributory pension scheme with a fixed return when you retire. New pension scheme is essentially a contributory market index fund or market based fund. Rohit: If you look at the pension scheme in the first world, which is very similar to NPS, the pension funds lost about $5 trillion because of this equity crisis.
