What Do You Think of the New Xi Jinping in Foreign Affairs?
I think there's certainly an emphasis on continuity. Wang Yi, as you mentioned, who is above the retirement age, and he's 69 years old,. General Zhang Yoshia was also retained. So it seems that Xi Jinping is keeping people who worked with him in the last five years. I'd say one difference is a very sharper contrast in how they're framing the external environment for China. One which is not just waiting for China to come to the center stage but one that's full of obstacles.
