The Decisionist's Myth Is Not Arbitrary
David Frum: I've always seen the decisionist's myth is just as not as arbitrary as people make it up to be. And so there's a kind of interpretive quality about the decision that's really supposed to be summing up a broader context, right? He talks about like this is where it can fail to be a decision. Then there's obviously some larger context within which that decision has to be understood in order to really be a sovereign. But isn't the context sort of friend enemy and the unity of the realm and face of the enemy? It's all very Hobbesian, isn't it?
