The Internet Is a Winner Take All Network
The internet jist intrinsically s a winner take all dynamic to it right, both commercially and in terms of popularity. The alternative to that is a bushy network where there's all kinds of little local situations - which used to happen with local news and local music clubs now. I think a good analogy is actually an ecological one. In the modern period, as we see organisms of various kinds, introduced species, spreading all over the world, all of this diversity that was sot of there due to localization has been lost.
