The Cost of Stem Cells
It's possible now to generate high-quality stem cells for each and every patient. Scientists can make induced pluripotent stem cells, which open up the possibility of generating neurons on demand or hair on demand. But they're notoriously difficult to engineer because there are not enough scientists that can make those cells by hand. Running a phase three clinical trial would cost $300 million, which is not feasible in most instances.
