Are Muhtaars Linked to Parties?

Muhtaars are not politically affiliated to any party and actually they've been barred from receiving party support since 1980. So for example whenever you see posters for Muhtaar candidates in neighborhoods, those campaign posters don't really offer many hints about ideology unless you look really closely. The book is only my research is only about Muhtaars in urban neighborhoods and especially Istanbul. It's often a family issue.
