My mother could speak Gujranati, she had a smattering of Manati. My father was the only doctor within a radius of 40 to 50 kilometers. I remember my father treating a man whose nose had been taken away by a sloth bear. A woman came with a leopard who had gotten into the kitchen when it was dark. When the woman got the chula lit up, the leopard attacked her and went out. So I remember these things from my childhood. They are almost, you know, much too hard to believe now. But I think that childhood gave me the, do I have to have an interesting life or not?
