White Sclera in Chimpanzees

When I first went to study wild chimpanzees, this was around a little over ten years ago. We counted up all the chimps that had white sclera in this population of wild chimpanzees in Uganda. What I really think is that it's probably prevalent across all chimpanzee sites and it's just been overlooked. You may not notice it, but if you look closely with your binoculars ... then you start to actually see what's there.
