The emphasis of Genesis 2 creation account is on the garden. The Lord God placed the man in the garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. In verse 18, then the Lord God said, it's not good that the man, the Adam, should be alone. I will make him a helper fit for him. Is there a certain image that comes to your mind when you think of the word helper?
